How to Copy Trades to ProjectX and TopstepX
ProjectX (TopstepX) is typically used as a destination in MirrorFlow: it receives orders from your master platform and executes them locally, though it can also be the source. Here is how to connect it step by step.
To copy trades to ProjectX and TopstepX with MirrorFlow, connect a source platform (NinjaTrader 8, MT4, MT5 or cTrader), add your ProjectX account as a destination, set the lot multiplier and start replication. From that point, every order your master executes is mirrored to the ProjectX account in under 15 ms, 100% locally through an inter-process channel inside your own Windows, with no external bridges or cloud servers involved.
What ProjectX is and how it relates to TopstepX
ProjectX is the trading infrastructure and API used by several futures funding firms. TopstepX is the platform Topstep traders use on top of that ecosystem to run their evaluation and funded accounts. In practice, when we talk about "copying to TopstepX" we mean sending your strategy's orders to an account that lives inside ProjectX. MirrorFlow connects to that environment as a receiver: your entries, exits, stops and take-profits are generated on your main platform and reproduced faithfully on the destination account.
ProjectX as a destination: the typical flow (and why it can also be the source)
In MirrorFlow, all 9 supported platforms —NinjaTrader 8, MT4, MT5, cTrader, ProjectX and Interactive Brokers— can act as the source (master) or the destination: replication is bidirectional. Even so, with funded accounts the most common setup is to use ProjectX/TopstepX as the destination, reflecting how most funded traders work and the nature of the environment itself:
- Your analysis and real execution happen on a full terminal (NinjaTrader 8, MT4, MT5 or cTrader), where you have charts, indicators and automations. That is your source of truth, the master.
- The ProjectX/TopstepX account is where you want the result to appear: one or several evaluation or funded accounts that receive the copy.
- Splitting source and destination lets you trade your strategy once and mirror it to several ProjectX accounts at the same time, each with its own size and rules.
- It lowers operational risk: your decision logic does not depend on the funding platform, only the execution of the copy does.
How to connect ProjectX as a destination, step by step
- Install MirrorFlow on the same Windows PC where your master platform runs. Local execution is the foundation of the Anti-Ban approach.
- Set up your source: open NinjaTrader 8, MT4, MT5 or cTrader and mark it as master inside MirrorFlow.
- Add the ProjectX/TopstepX account as a destination and enter the connection credentials your firm provides.
- Assign the lot multiplier for that account based on its size and the funding rules.
- Optional: enable Coverage Mode (Invert Side) and define MDD/MDP limits.
- Click start replication and run a test trade at minimum size to confirm the order arrives correctly.
Lot multiplier and unlimited accounts
You will almost never want a 1:1 copy. The size you use on your personal account rarely matches what a funding evaluation allows. With the per-account lot multiplier you tune each destination independently: send 0.5x to a conservative account and 2x to a larger one, all from the same master. MirrorFlow supports unlimited accounts with the one-time $69 payment, so you can scale from one to several ProjectX accounts with no extra cost per connection. The cross-instrument feature also helps when the master trades a Mini contract while the destination works with Micro.
Coverage Mode (Invert Side): what it is for
Coverage Mode flips the side of the trade on the destination: when the master buys, the ProjectX account sells, and vice versa. It is a technical tool for hedging strategies or for separating the behavior of two accounts. It is not a magic profit formula; it is a configuration option you should understand before applying it, because it completely changes the destination account's exposure relative to the master.
Funding rules: the honest framing
MirrorFlow is a technical replication tool, not a shortcut to pass an evaluation. No copier guarantees passing or clearing a funding challenge, and we do not promise that. What you can do is configure MDD (max drawdown) and MDP (max daily loss) limits so replication stops before it breaches your firm's thresholds. Even so, staying within the daily loss, trailing drawdown, consistency rules and allowed trading hours remains your responsibility. Set conservative limits, test at minimum size and know the exact rulebook of your program.
With the master defined, the ProjectX account as destination, the multiplier tuned and limits in place, you have fast, local replication under your control. That is the goal of MirrorFlow: execute once and let the copy reach TopstepX faithfully, in milliseconds, without depending on the cloud.
